Thetford Riverside Sculpture & Arts Trail

The new circular arts and heritage sculpture trail will take walkers past three river beaches, existing statues, new sculptures, Thetford's historic Lido, and a new river activity point. It will help link the town centre with the nearby rivers, encourage visitors to come into the town centre, and help promote the town's heritage and natural history.

This project will be delivered by Thetford Town Council as part of the Brecks' Fen Edge & Rivers Landscape Partnership, which is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The Town Council has set up a Sculpture Trail Working Group. As of January 2021, the group was in discussion with a number of artists who had expressed an interest in producing works. Ideas for sculptures include: Boudicca at Nuns' Bridges, a butterfly to form the centrepiece of a new memorial garden at the London Road, a rabbit on Barnham Cross Common, a crab and winkle by the river on Barnham Cross Common, a Kingfisher near Blaydon Bridge, and St Edmund to be carved from an existing tree stump at Nun’s bridges car park.
