Thetford Cycling Improvements
Cycling provision in Thetford is not that good. There is a "Thetford Connect" branded network of signed cycle routes. This provides a mixture of on-road and traffic free routes around the town. However, there are some key gaps, and connectivity to surrounding destinations is poor. In recent years there have been a number of studies that have considered improvements to cycling infrastructure. More information about the key proposals can be found by following the links below.
- Thetford Loops
- Ambitious plans for a set of circular cycle routes, contained in the Thetford Area Action Plan.
- Croxton Road Cycle Link
- A specific plan to upgrade some of the pavement alongside Croxton Road to a shared-use cycle path.
- Thetford to High Lodge Link
- A proposed cycle route from the Town to the High Lodge Forest Centre in Thetford Forest.
- London Road Cycle Path
- Proposals to upgrade the pavement alongside London Road to a shared-use cycle path, in order to link the Town Centre to the All Cycleway.
- Joe Blunt's Lane Parallel Cycle Route
- A potential new route running parallel to Joe Blunt's Lane, to provide better conditions for cyclists on that route, and avoid conflict with other users of the Lane..
- North-East Cycle Link
- A proposed route to link Joe Blunt's Lane with Forestry England land south of East Wretham Heath.
